Workshop 4: Healthy Soils, Sustainable Futures

News

During the EcoSchools workshop held in Nicosia, Cyprus, students participated in practical activities designed to deepen their understanding of soil, pollution and environmental sustainability.

The workshop introduced key topics including soil composition, soil health and the essential role of soil in supporting ecosystems and agricultural production. Students examined processes such as soil erosion and moisture retention, used environmental monitoring tools and discussed how soil conditions can affect plant growth, biodiversity and water management.

Through observation, experimentation and group discussion, participants also explored sustainable agricultural practices and the importance of protecting natural resources. The activities connected scientific concepts with real environmental challenges, encouraging students to consider how healthier soils contribute to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation and sustainable food production.
